Managing Director, Portfolio Manager
Ron is a Managing Director and a Portfolio Manager of the Graham & Dodd Farmland FundTM LLC and responsible for the investment selection, fundamental analysis and portfolio management of the Fund. Ron is also the Portfolio Manager in charge of the Graham & Dodd Fund® LLC high yield credit platform.
Prior to joining Graham & Dodd and launching the high yield business, Ron served as Managing Director, Portfolio Manager and Co-Head of Alcentra US (a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, Inc.), where he chaired the Credit Committee and led the high yield team and managed account funds, with assets under management (“AUM”) of $4.8 billion. Ron joined Alcentra when the business he managed at Rabobank International was acquired by Alcentra.
At Rabobank International, a large and established global food and agricultural bank, Ron led the team managing 7 CLO and CSO funds with AUM of $1.8 billion and was responsible for the overall management of the Managed Credit Portfolio Management business. He chaired its Credit Committee, was responsible for portfolio management and led the trading and analyst teams. Ron came to Rabobank from the Carlyle Group where he was a Managing Director, High Yield Bond Portfolio Manager and Head of Marketing in its Leveraged Finance Group.
Prior to Carlyle, Ron served as Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of High Yield Investments for Fischer, Francis, Trees & Watts (“FFTW”). While at FFTW, Ron established the firm’s high yield business, launched its first U.S. high yield mutual fund and managed the high yield assets of its institutional clients. Prior to FFTW, Ron spent nine years with Reliance Group Holdings as Vice President of Investments where he served as portfolio manager for the firm’s high yield and emerging market portfolios. Ron also has prior experience as a high yield and bankruptcy analyst at R.D. Smith & Company, held senior positions at Ropart Partners as a Managing Director, and at J.P. Morgan as a Vice President of Corporate Finance. Ron’s farming roots date back to when his Grandfather owned and his father worked at Grobeck Dairies, the family Dairy Farm in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mr. Grobeck is a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) and earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
